"HESTON from Waitrose" shoot
We were approached by Waitrose to produce ongoing x-ray captured images of ingredients for their HESTON from Waitrose range.
The science approach to Heston Blumenthal’s food complimented the science approach that captured images using traditional x-rays techniques.
I teamed up with x-ray artist Hugh Turvey to collaboratively produce images of the ingredients, he taught me how to capture the perfect ingredient in x-ray depending on its density.
Images were captured in black and white, then digitized.
The final stages continued in post-production.
Once the chosen images were selected from a selection of different angles and compositions, they were then balanced, masked and hand coloured using several colouring techniques as well as many layering techniques.
